The Details
Come camping with us in the Nisbet forest! We will be driving in and boondocking near Roddick Lake. Yes there will be bugs and ticks, so bring your bug spray (see below). We will need to forage for our own firewood and filter our own water (if we don't bring enough). And there are no bathrooms! Maybe do some internet searching if this is your first boondocking experience.
We will be enjoying time fishing, hiking with our dogs, exploring nearby trails and watching the stars at night.
On the way home, we will make a stop in at Hague for some tasty food (and probably to use a bathroom finally).
Advice for Tick Battles
Boondocking during tick season requires proactive prevention: treat clothing/gear with permethrin, use DEET on skin, wear light-colored long sleeves/pants tucked into socks, and perform daily, full-body checks. Choose open, sunny spots, avoid tall grass…
